Healthcare Accounting and Auditing Specialist

Rob Matschner is a Shareholder and a member of the Firm’s Senior Housing Practice Group. Rob has over 18 years of public and private accounting experience and works almost exclusively with healthcare and senior housing providers.

Rob has extensive experience managing audit and consulting engagements for a variety of organizations within the healthcare industry. Rob’s experience includes the audits of several large senior housing organizations, skilled-nursing facilities, hospice entities, hospitals, ICF/IIDs, group homes, and not-for-profit organizations. In addition, Rob has provided consulting on internal control, financing transactions, revenue cycle, accounts receivable, and transactional accounting.

Rob’s combination of public and private experience, involvement on nonprofit organizations’ boards and committees, and a history of healthcare association advocacy provides him with a unique understanding of and perspective on the needs and challenges of his clients. Through his work and experience, Rob was able to assist a client in saving over $30,000 in fines and penalties related to its employee benefit plan.

Rob has spoken at many healthcare industry and accounting conferences and regularly provides CPE training to clients, peers, and MSL staff.  His presentations include "Internal Controls and Fraud Detection", "Effective Audit Committees", "The Paperless Audit", and other accounting and industry-specific topics. He frequently presents financial statements and audit results to clients’ boards of directors and his experience allows him to communicate with directors in a distinctive, practical manner.
