A Shareholder and MSL's Tax Team Leader, Kurt Alter has over 30 years of experience in public accounting and two years as a chief financial officer. His depth and diversity of experience make him markedly qualified to provide a wide range of business entities, as well as high-wealth individuals, with tax, accounting, and business consulting. As an integral part of the Firm’s Tax Team, Kurt often serves as the primary point-of-contact with the client and facilitates the team’s interaction to meet the client's goals.
Kurt has direct experience with real estate developers and the construction industry, various types of manufacturers, tax-exempt entities, and professional service providers including physicians and attorneys, automobile dealerships and service providers within the oil and gas sector. A few of his concentrated services include business valuations for multiple purposes, employee benefits and fringe benefits, planning for businesses, and retirement and estate planning for individuals. Additionally, he has significant experience with litigation support and expert witness testimony. Kurt has been an instructor for courses related to federal taxation of corporations and pass-through entities, and he has instructed individuals for international accounting firms and several state societies of CPAs.
Kurt has lived all over the United States from Alaska to Hawaii to Michigan to Florida and, for a short period of time, played professional baseball.
