DeDe Nichols is a Director at
Moore Stephens Lovelace, P.A. and is a member of the
Firm’s Senior Housing and Skilled Nursing Facility Practice
Groups. DeDe has over 15 years of experience in public
accounting and has specialized experience serving clients in
the healthcare industry in the states of Georgia, Florida
and Alabama.
Professional Experience
DeDe has extensive experience providing
services to clients in the healthcare and senior housing
industries. DeDe provides services to over 150 skilled
nursing facilities. She oversees the preparation of their
cost reports and performs the review and analysis of the
Medicare and Medicaid cost reports and reimbursement rates.
Additionally, DeDe prepares and manages clients’ Medicare
and Medicaid cost report appeals. She performs Medicaid
interim rate reviews and requests; a recent example is
following difficult hurricane seasons. Utilizing her
relationship with the state agencies and Centers for
Medicare & Medicaid Services regional
offices, DeDe assists clients with reporting for changes of
ownership, including proof of financial ability and
licensure requirements. Additionally, she provides clients
with reimbursement consulting and reporting services and
prepares Medicaid provider reimbursement rate projections to
assist with budget planning.
DeDe is an active member of the Georgia Health Care
Association, the Georgia Association of Homes and Services
for the Aging, the Florida Health Care Association (FHCA), the
Florida Association of Homes and Services (FHSA) for the Aging and
the Florida Assisted Living Facility Affiliation. She has
spoken at the FAHSA and FHCA conferences and district
meetings regarding updates of Medicare and Medicaid
programs, reimbursement issues and financial impacts of the
changing healthcare industry. DeDe has presented at the
FICPA Healthcare Industry Conference as well.
Featured Successes
DeDe provides extensive consulting services
regarding operational and reimbursement issues to the home
office of a 30-facility senior healthcare provider.
Through the review of a client’s Medicaid direct and
indirect cost reporting system from a prior year, DeDe
helped her client save $150,000 by performing research and
correcting errors, which resulted in the increase of a
previous year’s patient reimbursement rate.
DeDe recently provided strategic and operational consulting
on the acquisition of seven skilled nursing facilities by an
investor.
